Meet the Optometrist

  • Thomas J.
    Thomas J. Goldstein O.D.

    Dr. Thomas J. Goldstein earned his B.S. in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1982 and Doctorate in Optometry from Northeastern Oklahoma State University College of Optometry in 1986. He then joined the United States Air Force and relocated to San Antonio where he served as an Optometrist at Kelly AFB Clinic. Dr. Goldstein fell in love with the city of San Antonio and started his private practice here. He opened Vision Plus in 1994 and is known for his sense of humor by his many long-time and loyal patients. Dr. Goldstein is a member of the Bexar County Optometric Society, American Optometric Association, and has served on many Advisory Boards throughout his career. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife, four daughters, two granddaughters, and one grandson (finally!!!).

  • Dr. Sanchez
    Dr. Alexis I. Sanchez O.D.

    Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Sanchez grew up in the inner and far Westside. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in Vision Science in 2017at The University of the Incarnate Word and her Doctorate of Optometry at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, graduating in 2023.

    During Optometry school, Dr. Sanchez was an active member of the program's student government, Student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity(SVOSH), Dr. Edward Hernandez Hispanic Mentorship Program, and served two terms as Vice President for the college's chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrist (FCO). During her fourth and final year of school, Dr. Sanchez did her clinical rotations serving patients at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, the Veterans Affairs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Indian Health Services in San Bernardino County in California, and a local private practice in Kansas City, Kansas. After school, Dr. Sanchez knew she would come back home to San Antonio to give back to the community that raised her. 'Aside from being able to help people, I want to be an inspiration, especially for the youth in my community. In my life, I only had one optometrist that looked like me. Representation matters.'

    During her free time, Dr. Sanchez loves to spend time with her family, dog, friends, and people within her church community. Her current hobbies consist of playing pickleball, volleyball, watching anime/kdramas, cheering on her San Antonio Spurs, and listening to every song BTS has ever made
